Work From Home Medical Coder ll and Coder lll … – Remote Job Path

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The coder is responsible to hospital, patient, and medical staff for providing accurate and timely coding of diagnostic data. 

The coder will:

Accurately codes diagnoses and procedures for in-patient stays according to recognized classifications.
Analyzes DRG patient records to ensure correct sequencing of principle and secondary diagnoses/procedures according to all required guidelines.
Abstracts data into hospital information management system. 
Ensures accuracy and integrity of medical record abstract data prior to billing interface.
Collaborates with Clinical Documentation Staff to ensure complete clinical documentation.
Interacts with attending physician to clarify diagnostic information as needed.
Monitors records for JCAHO, Quality Improvement or legal issues.
Acts as resource person to hospital departments regarding coding questions and issues
Meets customer service expectations as outlined.
Assumes other duties and assignments as assigned.

Coder ll- Job Requirements
Minimum Education Required:
High school diploma or equivalent

Minimum Related Years of Experience:
3 years of progressive coding experience in an acute care facility strongly preferred

Credential/Licensure Required:
CCS, CCS-P, RHIT or RHIA required within 1 year of hire.
CPC and/or CPC-H will be considered in lieu of above certifications with relevant work experience.

Coder llI- Job Requirements
Minimum Education Required:
High school diploma or equivalent

Minimum Related Years of Experience:
2 years progressive in-patient coding experience in an acute care facility required
Academic or level I or II trauma center experience a plus

Credential/Licensure Required:

CCS, RHIT and/or RHIA required at time of hire
